Under the Government of India, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare issued an office memorandum regarding the submission of annual life certificates of pensioners. All Central Government pensioners must submit their annual life certificate in November to continue getting a pension from the Centre. Pensioners can submit their annual life certificates through various methods.
Under the new rule, pensioners aged 80 years and above can submit their digital life certificates at Jeevan Pramaan Centres. These centres are at the head post offices of the country. It is crucial to keep the Jeevan Pramaan Centre IDs activated.
Pension Disbursing Banks can record the life certificate if the pensioner physically approaches the banks. There is an option to skip personal appearance if the pensioners can get their life certificates signed by designated officials. The list of designated officials is available in the annexure of the Central Pension Accounting Office’s scheme booklet.
Submissions are allowed through online mode as well. A facility can submit digital life certificates through the Jeevan Pramaan portal, a biometric-enabled digital service. Apart from that, the Doorstep Service initiative, taken with the help of India Post Payments Bank, allows the network of postmen and Gram Dak Sevaks to submit the certificates for the pensioners. The pensioners must download the “Postinfo” app from the Google Play Store to use the facility.
Working with the alliance of 12 public sector banks, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has also come up with the Doorstep Banking service. Doorstep Banking Agents shall visit the pensioner to collect the life certificates. This service is available through the Doorstep Banking (DSB) app on Google Play Store, website and toll-free number.
