LPG Consumers Can Book for Refill Through Missed Call Facility

The Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister, Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, on 1st January 2021, launched the Missed Call Facility for LPG consumers. Every Indian Oil LPG customer across India can now book for a refill of their LPG by giving a single missed call to this number – 8454955555.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister also rolled out the XP100 Petrol brand by Indian Oil, a world-class premium grade petrol (Octane 100). It was rolled out in seven more cities: Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Bhubaneswar and Indore. On 1st December 2020, the Minister launched XP100. In its first phase in December, it was rolled out to select outlets in 10 cities.

XP100 enhances the efficiency of high-speed cars and is of top-class quality. Digboi Refinery, Assam produces this petrol that caters to retail outlets’ needs in the North-Eastern Regions. Digboi Refinery is the oldest refinery which is generating the most advanced petrol available in India. By producing XP100 Petrol using secondary processing facilities and infrastructure, Digboi Refinery has joined the Mathura and Barauni Refineries, and it is a commendable achievement.

The Missed Call Facility for LPG consumers is an example of Digital India Mission as the government is making use of technology to provide services to citizens. By launching this facility, the government is taking steps to improve citizens’ ease of living and facilitate equitable treatment of every Indian to receive services. The Minister also advised the gas agencies and distributors to ensure that the LPG delivery is done within a few hours rather than one day.

Currently, the LPG connection will reach 30 crore connections against the connection being made available to 13 crore people from 1955 to 2014. It reflects an increase in connections and commitment of the government in providing clean fuel for cooking. The LPG connections make the life of a common man easy and empower the Indian women.

There was no interruption in delivery and supply of LPG even during the time of the pandemic. The Minister praised the delivery boys of the Oil Marketing Companies who supplied LPG at the people’s doorsteps during COVID-19.

The advantages of refill booking facility through missed call as against IVRS facility is that customers can book quickly and don’t have to hold calls for a long time.  There are no call charges in the missed call facility provided to the customers whereas in the IVRS calls there is a cost of regular call rates. The missed call facility offers convenience to the people who are not adept with the IVRS facility. The old-age customers who face problems using the IVRS facility can easily book now through the missed call facility. This missed call facility will also ease the life of rural customers.

Missed Call Facility for LPG consumers is a significant step by the government to boost the people’s ease of living. This facility allows the LPG refill booking in a free of cost and more convenient way. This facility by the government is sure to benefit consumers, especially the elderly and rural people.
