Previously, the yearly GST revenue collection stood at Rs 3,456.98 crore and Rs 2,497 crore for 2018-19 and 2017-18 respectively. However, the annual GST revenue collection in Himachal Pradesh is probably going to drop by more than 1,200 crores this fiscal year in comparison to the previous year. This speculation was made at a meeting which was chaired by Shrikant Baldi, the Chief Secretary.
The Chief Secretary has instructed authorities to enhance the tax filing percentage from 75% to 95%. He has asked tax officials to increase the GST registration numbers within the state. Shrikant Baldi also said that a significant approach has to be presented in order to increase the GST revenue collection. Baldi has instructed tax authorities to explore the various possibilities of improving the GST revenue collection.

Baldi believes that homestays and hotels need to be included under the tax net; an initiative needs to be taken in this direction. Also, he has instructed the authorities to put together a proposal for removing the provision of C-Form on the usage of diesel and petrol by customers.
According to Baldi, reimbursement of tax in SGST would apply to automobile sales, provided that a dealer passes on the rebate to the consumer. Reimbursing a section of SGST aims at increasing the automobile sales within the state. The Chief Secretary also said that the Himachal Pradesh Settlement Scheme aims to bring down the number of legacy cases from the pre-GST period (VAT Regime).
