GST Revenue Collection Increases By 30% in Gurugram

In contradiction to the deteriorating economic situation, four districts in Gurugram have shown a growth of 30% in the GST revenue collection. All four revenue districts of Gurugram comprise 60% of the overall revenue in Haryana.

Sanjeev Kaushal, the Additional Chief Secretary of excise and taxation departments, conducted a review around the GST revenue which was collected from the taxpayers. He mentioned that Gurugram (East) had recorded the highest growth rate in July with an increase of 65%. Gurugram (North) showed a growth rate of 43%.

The Additional Chief Secretary also added that the return compliance of the Gurugram district had increased specifically amidst the top taxpayers. He mentioned that more than 90% of the top taxpayers had completed their GST return filings in time. There has been an increase of 22.10% in GST return filings for the month of July. This increase is pertinent to Gurugram district’s particular band of top taxpayers comprising around 2,552 taxpayers.

The department worked on data mismatches and recovered more than 175 crores from taxpayers who showed inaccurate amounts in their returns. The department also cancelled around 2,949 registrations concerning taxpayers who were identified as non-functional and non-existing in the process of physical verification.

During roadside checks, the department had levied penalties and taxes which amounted to Rs 5.28 crores. The Additional Chief Secretary mentioned that the excise and taxation department is getting the refunds processed in a timely manner. Refund applications were being disposed within the 60 days.

Last year, Rs 1,404.98 crore was the GST revenue collected for the month of July. This year, the GST revenue collection for July stood at Rs 1,971.02 crore. An increase of Rs 566.04 crore has been recorded. In the past year, Haryana has seen a growth of about 40% concerning GST collections.
