Government extends timelines for e-filing of various income tax forms

The government has issued a circular dated 29th August 2021 to extend timelines of e-filing various forms under the Income Tax Act, 1961. The difficulties faced by the taxpayers and other stakeholders in filling certain forms were taken into consideration by CBDT. The due dates for the following forms are extended:

  1. Form 10A: The due date of filing an application for registration or intimation or approval under Section 10(23C)- Educational institution under Income Tax Act, 12A- Trust registration under Income Tax Act), 35(1)/(ii)/(iia)/(iii)- Deduction allowed for Scientific research or 80G- Specified institutions eligible for donations of the Income Tax Act in Form 10A is extended to 31st March 2022.
  2. Form 10AB: The due date for filing an application for registration or approval under Section 12A, 10(23C), or 80G of the Income Tax Act in Form 10AB, that falls on or before 28th February 2022, can be filed on or before 31st March 2022.
  3. Form 1: The due date to file the equalisation levy statement in Form 1 for FY 2020-21 is extended to 31st December 2021.
  4. Form 15CC (quarter ending June 2021): The authorised dealer making a payment to a non-resident can furnish the quarterly statement in Form 15CC for remittances made for the quarter ending on 30th June 2021, on or before 30th November 2021.
  5. Form 15CC (quarter ending September 2021): The quarterly statement in Form 15CC, for remittances made by the authorised dealer for the quarter ending on 30th September 2021, can be furnished on or before 31st December 2021.
  6. Uploading Form 15G/15H (quarter ending June 2021): If you are a TDS deductor, as per the Income Tax Act, you are required to file a quarterly statement of all the Form 15G/15H received. Form 15G/15H received from the recipients during the quarter ending 30th June 2021 can be uploaded on or before 30th November 2021.
  7. Uploading Form 15G/15H (quarter ending September 2021): The Form 15G/15H declarations received from the recipients during the quarter ending 30th September 2021 may be uploaded on or before 31st December 2021.
  8. Form II SWF (quarter ending June 2021): The intimation by Sovereign Wealth Fund for investments made in India for the quarter ending 30th June 2021 can be made on or before 30th November 2021.
  9. Form II SWF (quarter ending September 2021): The intimation by Sovereign Wealth Fund for investments made in India for the quarter ending 30th September 2021 can be made on or before 31st December 2021.
  10. Form 10BBB (quarter ending June 2021): The intimation by Pension Fund for investments made in India for the quarter ending 30th June 2021 can be made on or before 30th November 2021.
  11. Form 10BBB (quarter ending September 2021): The intimation by Pension Fund for investments made in India for the quarter ending 30th September 2021 can be made on or before 31st December 2021.
  12. Form 3CEAC: An intimation by a resident constituent entity of an international group whose parent entity is not a resident of India, as per Section 286(1) of the Income Tax Act, in Form 3CEAC, can be made on or before 31st December 2021.
  13. Form 3CEAD: Reporting by a parent entity or an alternate reporting entity or any other constituent entity, resident in India, as per Section 286(2) or Section 286(4) of the Income Tax Act, in Form 3CEAD, can be made on or before 31st December 2021.
  14. Form 3CEAE: Intimation on behalf of an international group as per proviso to Section 286(4) of the Income Tax Act in Form 3CEAE can be made on or before 31st December 2021.

Hence, the extension of the timelines of the Forms mentioned above provides a sigh of relief to the taxpayers for compliance with the new income tax portal.
