The Indian benchmark indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex closed the day over 0.6% higher. The financial and metal stocks led the gains in the widely followed indices. Particularly, the financial stocks saw intense buying activity. The cues have wrapped up the day on a positive note after closing lower on Thursday.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed the week at 39,982.98 points. It advanced by 254.57 points or 0.64%. Among the thirty stocks that constitute the index, only six closed in the red while the remaining twenty-four moved over the day. Tata Steel and HDFC Bank led the gains in the index as their share price surged by 5.38% and 2.55% respectively.
Kotak Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank and HDFC saw their share jumped by 2.10%, 2.05%, 1.65%, 1.53%, 1.29%, and 0.67% respectively. The share price of Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance moved forward by 0.89% and 0.51% respectively. The tech companies Infosys, Tech Mahindra and TCS, witnessed their share price leap forward by 1.77%, 1.31%, and 0.87% respectively.

HCL Tech curtailed the gains in the index as its share price tanked by 3.76%. It also turned out to be the most significant loser among the Sensex companies. M&M, RIL, Asian Paints, Nestle India, and Sun Pharma are the other stocks that closed the day in the negative terrain.
The NSE Nifty 50 closed the week at 11,762.45 points. It added 82.10 points or 0.70% to its tally over the day. Thirty-eight of the fifty stocks that form the Nifty index advanced while the remaining twelve ended in the red. JSW Steel and Tata Steel emerged as the top gainers with their share price rising by 6.69% and 5.34% respectively.
