Amidst the increasing COVID-19 cases, the Centre decides to permit vaccination drives at public and private workplaces. This move aims to benefit people aged 45 years and above and are part of the government or private offices. With this move, they can completely avoid the hassle of visiting the traditional vaccination centres.
The Centre has instructed the Union Territories and states to make adequate arrangements to get started with the vaccination drive from 11 April. Employees who are aged 45 years and above only will qualify for the workplace vaccination drive. Outsiders comprising qualifying family members also will not be permitted at the workplace vaccination drives.
COVID-19 vaccination sessions will be set up in workplaces that constitute about 100 qualifying beneficiaries who are willing to vaccinate. These workplaces will be tagged with an existing COVID vaccination centre.
A senior staff member who is part of an organisation will be allocated to work as a nodal officer. This officer will be responsible for coordinating with private COVID vaccination centres (CVCs), district health authorities, and vaccination activities.
The beneficiaries will have to register via the Co-WIN portal before getting vaccinated. The CVC nodal officers’ responsibility will be to ensure that all the targeted beneficiaries have successfully registered themselves for vaccination. On-the-spot registration facilities also will be made available to only the employees who are part of the workplace.
Every CVC amidst a private workplace will be tagged to the nearest and existing CVC in a private medical facility. Every CVC amidst a government workplace will be tagged to the nearest and existing CVC in a government medical facility. The allocated private and government CVC to whom a workplace CVC will be tagged will hold the complete responsibility of deploying the vaccination team at the workplace CVCs.
Workplaces posing as vaccination centres have to be registered on the CoWIN platform. For ensuring complete clarity, the name should not be mentioned in an abbreviated form. A vaccination site has to comprise a waiting vaccination as well as an observation room. Tents and shamianas will not be allowed. Vaccination sites can either have existing permanent structures, or stable structures such as hangars can be set up.
