CBIC Extends GSTR-3B Due Date Amid GSTR-2B Glitches

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) extended the GSTR-3B due date of April 2022 to 24th May 2022 amid glitches in GSTR-2B.

CBIC tweeted a post on social media that GSTN has reported a technical glitch, and there were glitches in the generation of April 2022 GSTR-2B and auto-population of details to GSTR-3B.

The GSTR-3B is due on the 20th of the following month for businesses whose turnover is more than five crores. Accordingly, April 2022 returns were to be filed by 20th May 2022.

GSTR-3B is a self-declared summary of transactions in which you have to submit details of sales, ITC, and tax payable. GSTR-3B, once filed, cannot be revised. You should file GSTR-3B even if there is no tax liability.

If GSTR-3B is not filed by the due date, a late fee applies daily. If the tax liability is not met within the due date, there is an interest liability on the dues.

CBIC also issued a separate notification extending the due date for PMT-06 till 27th May 2022. PMT-06 is used to pay tax for April 2022 by taxpayers under the Quarterly Return Filing and Monthly Tax Payment (QRMP) scheme.

CBIC also directed Infosys to get an early resolution. Also, it informed that the technical team is working to provide GSTR-2B and correct auto-populated GSTR-3B at the earliest.
