In a move to make e-filing of tax returns after the recent reforms announced in the direct taxes front, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has planned to launch an e-assistance campaign for taxpayers across the country.
The campaign will be unveiled on 24 July 2019 at 10 a.m. at Ambedkar International Centre, Delhi on occasion of the 159th Income Tax Day. The campaign will be launched in the presence of all the top officials in the income tax department.
According to sources, the Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thukar and the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also be present at the launch. The Union Minister will be launching the e-assistance campaign while awarding the best performing revenue service in the country.

The CBDT conceptualised the campaign to assist and support taxpayers and stakeholders in the e-fling of returns while addressing other IT related onuses under the current tax laws.
The campaign will be launched at all regional offices of the IT Department where the day will be honoured by praising the taxpayers who have been filing taxes regularly.
Income Tax day is observed on 24 July every year to honour the day the income tax was recognised as a duty rather than an obligation in the year 1860. It was on the very same day the income tax department also came into force.
